Flag football has officially been announced as an Olympic sport for the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, and excitement is spreading quickly, especially among high school athletes who grew up playing the game.

The inclusion of flag football marks a major moment for the sport, offering a non-contact alternative to tackle football while still showcasing speed, strategy, and athleticism. It also opens the door for NFL players to represent their country and sport on a global stage, something fans are thrilled about.

Senior Jacob Crespo from East Brunswick High School shared his enthusiasm: "It is going to be so fun watching players like Justin Jefferson and Chris Jones play flag football, especially since I played it as a kid." His connection to the sport highlights how flag football is more than just a game; it’s a part of childhood for many and now a part of the Olympic dream.

Another East Brunswick senior, Ved Mathia, echoed the excitement, saying, "Flag football is so fun, and for NFL players to be playing in it, woo wee, that's going to be lit." His words capture the energy and anticipation surrounding this historic moment.

The NFL has already expressed full support for Olympic flag football, with several players hinting at their interest in participating. As the world counts down to 2028, young athletes everywhere are inspired by the possibility that one day, they too might represent their country on an Olympic flag football team.
