Collision 2025
MAY 21, 2025, 11:37 P.M.
Often referred to as “The Most Hyped Event of the Year” by students like International Club presidents Sahil Kochhar and Shraaptesh Lokanda, Collision is far more than just a performance night -- it’s a vibrant celebration of diversity, inclusion, and community.
This year, excitement is dialed up with the nostalgic Y2K theme, bringing the 2000s charm back into the spotlight. Juniors Samiha Rahim and Keya Sheth shared their enthusiasm: “We were so excited for this year’s nostalgic theme, especially because of all the low-rise jeans and sparkly clothes we saw in the fashion show!”
Setting the tone for the evening, the event began with a variety of delicious dishes, generously donated by local East Brunswick restaurants -- each representing the cultural richness of our town.
From there, the stage came to life with student-led dances, including many cross-cultural performances, and a fashion show inspired by an era best known for its bold and flashy spirit. Juniors Nikita Shah and Ariane Yu shared that the “highlight of the event was dancing in the Girls Generally Asian group” with their friends, whom they had been practicing with for weeks. Several additional dance groups committed their time to perfecting their dances by incorporating costumes, props, and loads of practice. Seniors Rishi Kunderan and Ayush Myneni explained how their group, the Bellum Blasters, had “danced till 11 pm” for one of their dance practices -- just one example of the dedication behind the scenes of Collision.
Late-night rehearsals and endless run-throughs became the routine for many performers in the weeks leading up to this show. Yet, amid the preparation were moments filled with laughter, bonding, and a shared sense of purpose.
This year’s Collision embodied all that International Club stands for: embracing differences, honoring cultures, and highlighting the unique voices within our student body. The show concluded with the announcement of the winners: 2008th Street’s electric hip-hop duo took third place, Rangila’s flawless performance took second, and Bellum Blaster’s energetic production took first.
From K-pop to classical Indian dance, hip-hop mashups to Latin beats, Collision was a mix of global influence, bringing people together through shared creative freedom and respect. As the music filled the EBHS auditorium on May 16th, the audience was reminded of the beauty in diversity and the power of community.
Collision unites the student body through creativity, cultural pride, and collaboration. As this event took place toward the end of the school year, it doubled as a kickoff to summer, reminding us that unity, fun, and a little bit of Y2K charm can bring everyone together!
