The Premier League has reached 11 matchdays so far, with the 12th matchday beginning on Saturday, the 22nd, as Chelsea face Burnley at Turf Moor, Burnley's home stadium. The league has been nothing but entertaining and surprising, as some teams have toppled the Big Six in the Premier League, while others are underperforming compared to their run last season. Let’s take a look at what the standings are for the teams and the performances of the most shocking teams.

Like before, some teams have underperformed compared to their run last season, and Liverpool F.C. is no stranger to that in the past 11 games. In their previous match, Liverpool lost to Manchester City 3-0 after Erling Haaland opened the match in the 29th minute, and Jeremy Doku finished the Reds during the 63rd minute with the 3rd goal for the Citizens. The performance of Liverpool has not only shocked Liverpool fans, but also fans of the league. Their summer transfer window was no joke, with the likes of Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, and Alexander Isak all signing for Liverpool. However, many have had underwhelming performances. Some also considered that Mohamed Salah, the top scorer for the Premier League last season, is nowhere on the leaderboard in terms of top scorers.

It’s still too early to determine whether Liverpool will be able to flip around their luck in the next matchdays, but at the moment, Liverpool’s future in winning is looking slim. However, that’s not the case with the North London Reds, Arsenal, who have only lost 1 game out of the 11 they played. Arsenal, throughout the year, have lost out on a trophy after fumbling the final days and bad luck, giving trophies to other teams like Manchester City and Liverpool. However, this time around, Arsenal have a squad that has been holding them strong in the title race. Players like Jurrien Timber, Viktor Gyokeres, Bukayo Saka, and Declan Rice have been strong players for the Gunners in North London.

Even with Arsenal being almost unstoppable, other teams aren’t that far in the title race. Manchester City, who are in second, are starting to get momentum after winning 3-0 against Liverpool and a 3-1 win against a strong Bournemouth side. Junior Year Manchester City fan, Sanjit Sahoo, comments on the Citizens' run in the Premier League so far, “It’s been good, but there is still more to come. Haaland is popping off, and Phil Foden is back. Jeremy Doku is popping off as well, and we have a solid defense. We have a shot of winning the Prem.” Manchester City is not just the only contender in the title race, however. London’s top club, besides Arsenal, has been keeping a strong record as well during the league. Chelsea have started gaining momentum as well, with Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto carrying the attack for the Blues, and as for Tottenham, Mohamed Kudus and Mickey Van de Ven are Tottenham’s strongest players.  The Lilywhites will face Arsenal in the North London Derby at the Emirates. Other teams standing out who can be part of the title race are Manchester United, who need more of a push to get them to a comfortable spot in the top 4. Recently, Ruben Amorim has been racking up points after a draw with Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, along with a win against Brighton. There still needs to be more work to be done if the Red Devils want a real shot at winning the Premier League. Other teams include: Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, who’ve shown outstanding performances even though they lost many of their good players. Although these teams need to do more if they want a real shot at winning, they’re also Premier League regulars, having been in the league for 10-13 years. However, a team that has been performing very well and that was recently promoted is Sunderland AFC.

Sunderland AFC has not only made Premier League fans’ mouths drop, but the entire soccer (or football) community. As of right now, the Black Cats are 4th in the standings, only one point behind Chelsea. The newly promoted football club made excellent feats like drawing with Arsenal and Crystal Palace. Sunderland AFC is the most successful promoted club in these 10 games with Leeds United and Burnley F.C. both struggling to get out of the lower half of the standings.

Those are the most important features of the Premier League so far this season. It’s only the beginning half of the season, and luck could flip around for anyone in the league.
