East Brunswick High School proudly hosted the annual Anderson Bowl, honoring the memory of beloved teacher Leslie Anderson. The event brought together eight competitive teams for a spirited flag football tournament, all vying for the prestigious Anderson Bowl trophy. The bracket-style competition kept fans on the edge of their seats and the drummers drumming, as teams battled for every yard and touchdown.
In the end, The Destroyers lived up to their name, dominating the field and securing a decisive championship victory. Their team name will now be engraved on the Anderson Bowl trophy, which will be displayed in the school’s showcase until next year’s event. “Even though we didn’t win, it was amazing to see everyone giving it their all,” said junior Sebastian Caprengro. “The energy on the field was unreal, and it was so fun to compete with my friends.”
The evening was organized by the National Honor Society, whose members coordinated every detail of the tournament. Thanks to their hard work and the generosity of the East Brunswick community, over $1,300 was raised in a single night. These funds will support both the Leslie Anderson Scholarship and St. Jude’s Foundation, continuing Mrs. Anderson’s legacy of kindness and service.
To close the night, NHS hosted a community bonfire on the lower field, with support from the East Brunswick Fire Department. “The bonfire was the perfect way to end an unforgettable night,” said junior Fransisco Nono. “It really brought everyone together and made the event feel special.”
The Anderson Bowl remains a cherished tradition at East Brunswick High, celebrating competition, community, and the enduring impact of a remarkable teacher.
