Midway through the 2025–26 wrestling season, the East Brunswick High School wrestling team showed strong performances at the Bear Invitational on December 27, 2025, hosted at Churchill Junior High School. Competing against several top teams in the region, the Bears earned a team runner-up finish with 184 points, demonstrating depth, skill, and competitiveness across multiple weight classes.
East Brunswick wrestlers captured four individual championships in the tournament. Dominick Lezark (126 lb), Jake Gujski (138 lb), and George Crostewitz (165 lb), each won their respective weight-class brackets, contributing heavily to the team’s overall score. Other top placers included Shawn Riley (144 lb, 2nd place), and Gavin Lezark (106 lb, 3rd place). These results highlight East Brunswick’s strong presence across both middle and upper weight divisions.
Senior standout George Crostewitz said, “It feels great to compete well as a team and see our hard work in practice pay off on the mat. Every point counts, and we’re building momentum for the rest of the season.”
Junior Jake Gujski added, “We’re focused on improving each match. Finishing second here motivates us to push harder in the next tournaments and dual meets.”
The Bears’ performance at the Bear Invitational demonstrates the program’s depth and balance. Coaches emphasized fundamentals, conditioning, and teamwork as keys to success. With several conference matches still remaining in the 2025–26 season, East Brunswick looks to carry this momentum forward and continue competing at a high level throughout the winter.
