For many students, returning to school after a long winter break might be intimidating and overwhelming. However, with the right mindset and simple strategies, this transition can be much smoother and enjoyable.

One effective tip is to ease back into schoolwork instead of rushing all at once. Sophomore Sabrina Molinari suggests "[easing] back into it...so that you aren’t too stressed and [to] start early.”

Beginning assignments early helps reduce any last-minute pressures, such as due dates, and this gradual approach helps rebuild focus and healthy learning habits without making people feel unnecessarily overwhelmed.

Another tip is to use the Pomodoro technique, a time management method created to break work into intervals that are separated by short breaks. These short breaks help improve focus and reduce burnout by allowing the brain to rest and reset. With the proper rest, students can stay productive while protecting their mental health. Senior Jeremy Huang uses this technique himself and recommends it to other students.

In addition to easing back into schoolwork and using the Pomodoro technique, creating routines for homework, study times, and breaks can help students stay organized. By setting specific times, students can manage their time more wisely and stay in control of their work.

Overall, returning to school after a long winter break can seem stressful and unbearable, but by keeping simple routines and strategies, students can regain their positive mindset and focus.
