How did EBHS Clubs prepare for Sophomore Orientation?

As a new school year comes to a start, East Brunswick High School welcomed rising sophomores to the school through the sophomore orientation. The new students were given the opportunity to not only navigate the school itself, but also  navigate their interests through  the abundance of clubs offered. This event is typically a crucial one for clubs to be able to recruit new members and promote their club to new students. Here’s how some clubs prepared for the orientation.

Nathan Kim, secretary of the EBHS Chinese Honor Society said, “One of the strategies we used for our club to gain traction from the rising sophomores is by giving free candy to anyone who followed our Instagram account, which seemed pretty effective.”

Yafi Zaman, events director of the EBHS Chess Club said, “Something new our club tried this year to garner more attention from the sophomores was by having our president and vice president play a live chess game against each other, and people really liked it.”

Overall, the clubs’ positive experience with the sophomore orientation and experimentation with new attention-attracting methods to recruit new members was proven a success, continuing to make the event a highlight for club officers, existing members, aspiring members, and the overall EBHS community.
