On March 19th, 2026, East Brunswick had their annual Masquerade Ball, co-hosted by the Chinese, German, Italian, Spanish, and French honors societies.
Before the event, volunteers from the honors societies worked together to decorate the cafeteria. Junior Ally Wong, who helped put up the FHS decorations, said, “It was a really fun and exciting time and I was really happy with how the decor came out. We put up so many banners and tinsel curtains.”
Members from the honors societies also brought authentic cultural food to the event, such as empanadas from SHS and lo mein from CHS. Senior Jivin Sharma said, “The food from the Italian Honors Society was my favorite. I liked their dessert and also the pizza they had.” There were also many home-made desserts to choose from, such as the home-made cakes GHS made. Senior Caitlyn Laury said,” My favorite desserts were the desserts that the French Honors Society had.”
During the event, attendees had fun dancing with their friends and meeting new people. Junior Madeline Nonestied said,” I really enjoyed the atmosphere and it was a nice way to end the week.” Attendees also got to listen to music from different cultures and languages. Nearing the end of the night, the German Honors Society performed a dance for everyone, an annual tradition. They danced to a German song, “Rock Me,” which brought a lot of laughter from the crowd.
Overall, the Masquerade Ball was a memorable night that brought together students from various cultures and backgrounds. Through music, food, and shared traditions, the event highlighted the diversity within the school and brought everyone together during a stressful time in the school year.
