Every fall, East Brunswick comes together to celebrate EB Day. The lively and inclusive community event, organized by the East Brunswick Youth Council, showcases the town’s spirit, talent, and local pride. Held at the Community Arts Center, EB Day was on October 4th from 12pm to 4 p.m. Drawing thousands of attendees each year, the event brings together families, neighbors, small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and local government in a fun-filled atmosphere designed to highlight all that East Brunswick has to offer.

The event features many vendors and exhibitors, including local retailers, service providers, artists, school clubs, and municipal departments. These booths offer interactive displays, giveaways, demonstrations, and a chance for the community to engage directly with the people and organizations that shape the town. Coming from the school, art club, choir, and robotics each had their own table to fundraise for their team. Junior Ruby Portnoy, president of the robotics team, said, “It was really fun to talk to people about the club. We were able to fundraise a lot for the future of the team.”

One of the most popular areas was the Family Fun Zone, where children could enjoy a wide range of activities, including an inflatable obstacle and crafts. Another favorite attraction is the dunk tank, where Dr. Bucior volunteered to be dunked, with proceeds benefiting local charities. Senior Danielle Kim said, “I witnessed him fall in and found it really funny! The entire day was so fun.” In addition to fun and games, EB Day offered live entertainment on stage throughout the day. Local musicians, yoga, and performance groups took the spotlight, creating a dynamic soundtrack for the festivities.

A major component of EB Day is the community giving initiative. Attendees were encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to support the REPLENISH Middlesex County food bank. In addition, the EB Youth Council went around to ensure the park was well taken care of. Junior Madeline Nonestied, who is part of the East Brunswick Sustainability Task Force, said, “I was able to talk to a lot of people about our cause, and so many of them were eager to hear about it! It's really important to have these events to really connect with the community.”

Of course, no festival is complete without great food, and EB Day didn’t disappoint with food trucks: Latin Flavors, Beastro, and Maricel’s Kitchen featured flavors from around the globe. Whether you were craving tacos, barbecue, empanadas, gourmet popcorn, or frozen desserts, there was something to satisfy every palate. Sophomore Bahar Chabanov said, “There was a lot of great food there, I initially didn’t want to go to the event but knew that everyone was having a great time so I decided to check it out and was not disappointed.”

In essence, EB Day is more than just a town festival — it's a celebration of community spirit, a showcase for local talent and businesses, and a day of fun, connection, and pride for East Brunswick residents of all ages.
