From May 4th to May 15th, high school students across America participated in Advanced Placement testing to test their knowledge, reveal their interests, and earn potential college credits. At East Brunswick High School, students had the opportunity to take a wide variety of tests, either through classes taught at the high school or by self studying. Some popular tests included AP Biology, AP US History, AP Calculus, and more. The tests consisted of multiple choice and free response questions, ranged from 2 to 3 hours, and were taken hybridly or fully digitally.
After exams were finished, EBHS students had lots of advice to share based on their experiences. Sophomores Aathav Ashokkumar and Nathan Kim said, “It’s really important that you give yourself enough time and start preparing early. Also make sure to focus on big ideas with college board and other online resources, and try not to procrastinate because all of these courses have a lot of content to take in”. They added on that there are plenty of resources available to students, both online or through teachers.
Junior Olivia Yu commented about the stress that AP exams put on students. She said, “This year I was very stressed in anticipation for my exams, since compared to last year, I was preparing for a lot of tests and needed to learn how to manage my time efficiently. Something I did during the preparation process that was helpful was going to cafes to study with my friends so that we could hold each other accountable and stay on task.”
Students who took the tests successfully showcased their knowledge and devotion toward rigorous academics throughout their high school journey, proving themselves to be capable of handling college level curriculum and sophistication.
