Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians (PJO) hit Disney+ on Wednesday, December 10, transforming the beloved TV show from just a fantasy adventure tale to a story of identity and growing up. With deeper character developments and more intense challenges being added, Season 2 showed how far Percy and his friends have come and how much further they’re still going.

This season was adapted from The Sea of Monsters, the second book in the original PJO book series, and continued to follow Percy, Annabeth, and Grover as they partake in another quest to save Camp Half Blood and potentially the world. Beyond the main quest, Season 2 added more depth to Percy’s internal journey as he discovers himself and what it truly means to be a hero. Other characters, including Annabeth and Luke, figure out pieces of the past that critically shape—and endanger—their futures.

Many viewers are tuning in with fond memories of the children’s book series published 20 years ago to international acclaim. EBHS Senior Ariane Yu said, “As a huge fan of the Percy Jackson book series, I am so excited to watch the show each Wednesday and see my childhood come to life!”

After watching, sophomore Sophia Yatsko commented, “This season has truly kept me on the edge of my seat. With every new episode being released, the story just keeps growing in such an amazing way that pays respect to the original books and crafts a new story as well.”

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 continued to ramp up the momentum of the show while proving that its core is character growth along with adventure, adding on to their pre-existing plots in such meaningful ways that made this season different and more enticing than the first.
